Emergency preparedness plays a key role in the safety of the territory. The emergency or crisis preparedness of the territory has a prospective character. The proposed preparedness measures are implemented in the long term. The measures are implemented on the basis of strategic planning for the development of the territory within the framework of spatial planning. One type of measures can be nature-based solutions, which are linked to nature and frame the natural character of the territory. Alternatively, these measures may have a different function in the territory (e.g. recreational use). For the design of measures in the territory, risk mapping can be used, which visualises the risks in the territory using a colour scale on a map. Risk maps identify areas with different levels of risk and show the interaction of the manifestations of different types of hazards, vulnerabilities and preparedness in the territory. The maps thus provide comprehensive information on the risk burden on the territory and the possibility to set up selected preventive measures to reduce the potential risk. The article describes the mapping of risks in the territory of the Czech Republic, pointing out the possible application of measures in the form of nature-based solutions, taking into account respect for nature and the opinions of local residents.
