This research was conducted for six years, in experimental fields located in Bârzava Plain, West part of Romania. The purpose of this research was to observe if a mixture of manure and calcium carbonate can improve some fertility indicators of soil. The monitored soil fertility indicators were: pH, humus content and nitrogen index. The mixture applied on the experimental field contain 20 t/ha cow manure and 4 t/ha calcium carbonate, being distributed in the first experimental year and in the fourth experimental year. Soil pH was made by potentiometric method in 1:2.5 soil : water ratio; humus content by Tiurin method and the nitrogen index it was mathematicaly calculated. This experiment was located in three different experimental fields, were we identified two different soil types (in two experimental fields - Haplic Luvisol and in the other - Fluvisol). After six years from the moment when the mixture was distributed, it were observed interesting results. In the two experimental fields, were we identified Haplic Luvisols we observe increasing of pH values between 1,26 and 1,34 units, humus content values between 1,23 and 1,48 and nitrogen index between 1,23 and 1,47. In the Haplic Fluvisol experimental case we can observe increasing of pH values with 0,54 units, humus content with 1,07 and nitrogen index with 1,09.
