By elaborating this work, we want to highlight the advantages of using photovoltaic panels in Dumbravita area, Timis county, Romania, and what is the impact of using these panels on the environment. In the analysis of the commune, we follow aspects starting with the geographical location, natural resources, which highlight that the weather in Dumbravita has the potential and capacity to expand for the use of photovoltaic panels in as many homes as possible, so as to ensure a high quality of life for its inhabitants. From a climatic point of view, the commune under analysis is located in the continental climate zone, in contact with the influence of the Mediterranean climate in southern Banat, having a very good solar potential. To develop this study, we centralized and analyzed data received from the residents who own homes with photovoltaic panels. We made a comparison between 2023 and 2024 at the same number of kW and the same number of panels. With the collected data, we were able to make an assessment of the normal direct irradiation, the efficiency, how much energy was consumed and how much was consumed from PV. In addition to this method, we also consulted specialized references to have a better and more realistic vision of photovoltaic panels, if they are an added value for both residents and the environment. Following the study, we concluded that photovoltaic panels offer a viable alternative to fossil fuels and can help reduce our dependence on limited resources, thus reducing coal consumption, avoiding high CO2 emissions and significantly reducing massive tree felling.
