In construction field, concealed works are found in structural and nonstructural elements or may be component parts of them. These types of works have an importance role regarding the quality of the final construction, mainly due to their particularity with respect to difficult and complex methods of inspection, monitoring or intervention. There is a wide and complex range of concealed works in constructions, both in infrastructure and structure, as well as in architecture and resistance. All concealed works are characterized by a level of risk, but only a part of them have a medium to high risk. Because of this cause, these categories of risks should be given a importance attention throughout the accomplishment of the concealed works, starting with design phase until building completion and monitored during use of construction. In order to meet the required quality level and to minimize interventions on the concealed works after their completion, it is necessary to identify and define the critical control points, especially on the technological flow. These points have the role of defining the steps or operations corresponding to the technological process in which control can be and must be applied to prevent, eliminate or reduce to an acceptable level, the risks with significant negative impact over the quality of the construction.
Among the existing methods of identifying critical control points, the most commonly used is the "Decision Tree" method, which uses a logic scheme composed of a series of questions. Starting from this diagram, it was possible to conceive a new logical scheme adapted according to the technological flow that includes the execution stages of the concealed works. After identifying and defining the critical control points and setting other specific features of those, a risks monitoring plan was develop based on the analysis of those points generated by the risks with medium to hight impact. The purpose of the critical control points monitoring plan is to simplify and ensure the optimum execution of concealed works. The main conclusions of this analysis may by applied with success to fulfill the essential requests regarding the safety and quality of final construction. |
