Concrete is a widely used construction material. Extraction and processing of raw materials used for its production requires a lot of energy and poses threats to the environment. At present, in accordance to the idea of sustainable development and close circuit economy, it is recommended to aim at the maximum reduction of raw materials by replacing primary materials with secondary raw material (recycled materials) or industrial by-products. One of the pro-ecologic attitudes is introducing secondary wastes from thermal processes as a concrete replacement. Such a solution may have a positive impact on energy savings, limiting CO2, reduction of the use of natural resources and management of wastes from the thermal transformation of the municipal wastes.
The work presents the results of the impact of dust additive on selected mechanical properties of concrete. Waste dust which comes from the purification of exhaust fumes in the process of thermal transformation of municipal wastes replaced 30% of cement CEM I type. The compressive strength of such concrete was tested after 2, 7, 28 and 90 days. Obtained test results are promising, as they show the positive impact of the admixture of dust from the purification of exhaust fumes on compressive strength of concrete after 28 days.
