Energy consumption was already high when the EU/Directive of energy performance of buildings (EPB) was adopted. Final energy consumption accounted for more than 40% of total energy consumption in the EU residential sector and in the tertiary sector. The Directive concerns the design of structures in such a way as to meet EPB requirements. This Directive 2010/31 / EU extend and clarify the obligations of the EU Member States with regard to the reduction of energy consumption in the use of buildings affecting primary energy and CO2 emissions. The challenge is to evaluate and meet the energy consumption requirements of a building for heating, hot water production, ventilation, cooling and lighting. The aim of this work is to highlight the current requirements for the construction of single-storey houses. The theoretical assumptions, legislative and normative environment are given to assess their thermal insulation properties. The paper contains a comparison and analysis of calculated EPB values of selected representatives of single-storey houses, which currently represent a large part of their construction in practice.
