The topic of assessing the efficiency of a public investment in a shipping lane involves a myriad of smaller units that can be examined in more detail. The aim of this paper is to focus on the group of public investments related to the shipping lane as an object of public interest. Nowadays, shipping lane enter the topic of public investment primarily as a possibility of reconstruction or modernization of the area so that it can be effectively used for social purposes.
The impact of a given shipping lane as a public investment can have considerable benefits for the region in which it is located. A typical example is a shipping lane that is not technically or technologically capable of accommodating the issue of navigation in a given area and thus does not bring sufficient social benefits for citizens. In doing so, it is based initially on that substance. Provided that the investment is efficient and the project is able to continue to operate, it will bring not only the benefit of the funds but also an attractive position to the location in which it is located. If the previous sentence were to be applied to the aforementioned topic, it would be that citizens would come to the region to visit the shipping lane, which is also adapted for tourists (cycle path). Although visitors do not pay admission to the public space, it is assumed that they will use the restaurants, accommodation and other facilities in the region, from which the benefits of the state or the region will flip over. Benefits for the site are not measurable only from the monetary point of view. The output of the paper is, among other things, defining elements that should not be neglected, such as security, economic, social and educational benefits for the population. Public investment is not represented only by the pros. It is also necessary to mention the negative side of the matter, which represents the price to be paid for the implementation and subsequent long-term maintenance of the project. |
