jewellery, construction materials, in the mechanical systems and energy generation). The popularity of the use of copper alloys caused an increase in the application of these materials and the increase in the demand for recovery of previously used metals that are components of these alloys. The sources of materials from which the above-mentioned metals are recovered can be: brass scrap, elements from electric furnaces, electronics, car scrap and alkaline batteries. Thus, in recent years, the demand for the recovery of copper, zinc, nickel, tin and iron from materials that are their secondary sources has increased. The objective of the present work was to study separation and recovery of zinc under vacuum conditions from electronic copper-based alloy scrap with the following composition (XRF analysis - in wt. pct.): 66.5% Cu, 20.4% Zn, 6,0% Sn, 4.2% Pb, 2,5% Ag, 0,2% Au, 0,7% Fe, 0,4% Ni. Separation and zinc recovery process from copper-based alloy scrap was carried out in a vacuum system under following conditions: 1173 K, time from 30 to 120 min, pressure 10 and 100 Pa.
The obtained results indicate that at the same time a higher zinc evaporation rate of approx. 18% is obtained at a lower pressure (10 Pa) than using a higher pressure (100 Pa). The zinc extraction coefficient achieved the highest value of 90.68% as a result of vacuum sublimation during 120 minutes at the pressure equal 10 Pa. For comparison, the zinc extraction coefficient obtained during vacuum sublimation carried out during 120 minutes at 100 Pa was lower by 30%. Results are summarized in the form of -log(????????????0) vs. time plot |
