In this work hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoparticles ranging in size from 30 to 150 nm of lamellar and rod-shaped form were obtained by controlled deposition in the presence of a stabilizer. HAP nanoparticle powder in different mass ratios was added to a mixture of biocompatible polymers (sodium alginate and PLGA), which were the dispersion medium of the emulsion. Water or an aqueous solution of sodium citrate was used as the dispersed phase. The internal structure of the matrices was studied by scanning electron microscopy. The composition and degree of crystallinity of the samples were investigated by x-ray phase analysis. The surface of the samples was studied using energy dispersive microanalysis. Assumptions are made about the nature of the HAP-polymer interaction. It has been shown that the shape, size and number of HAP nanoparticles affect the stability of the emulsion, which in turn allows control of the size, number and shape of pores in the solid composite. This fact is important for the creation of biocompatible materials for tissue engineering.
