The dynamic impact loading has significant influence on the conveyor belts operation time. This paper focuses on the tensile properties of fabric conveyor belts subjected to the impact loading induced by dropping a hammer. The induced damage of the conveyor belt was inspected after the drop. The impact of the hammer simulated the belt stress at the chutes where the transported material falls onto the belt. The falling material usually damages the belt on its surface, i.e. the rubber cover layer that protects the belt carcass. The carcass consists of the textile plies and provides the tensile strength of the belt which changes after the carcass is damaged. As the integrity of the textile plies becomes deteriorated, the damage of the belt becomes irreversible. Punctures of the belt during the operation lead to the loss of the belt function; this causes high financial costs of the belt repair and renovation. The laboratory testing program therefore focused on the conveyor belts exposed to the impact loading. The drop tests were performed using the standardized blocks in order to determine both the height and weight parameter values that cause the belt punctures. The belt specimens with the damaged carcases were exposed to the tensile load. Their mechanical properties - tensile strength and elongation at break were identified. The obtained tensile properties provided the valuable information on how they change as a result of the irreversible changes in the internal structure of the belt induced by the impact.
