The paper presents the results of geomechanical research of the state of mine workings located in the bearing pressure zone at a rockburst hazardous deposit. The aim of the research is substantiation of the measures to protect the mine workings from the impact of high tectonic stresses. The stress-strain state calculations were carried out by the finite element method in volumetric setting. Numerical models have been developed on the basis of in-situ measurements data of stress field parameters.
The stress-relief measures at rockburst hazardous deposits have been applied at several scale levels. The first one is a local level that allows reducing the stresses in a near-marginal part of mine workings and pillars. The second one is a regional level carried out within the mining field, a level or a block.
The parameter of the stress strain state, which should first of all be taken into account when developing a protective measure, is the direction of maximum component of principal stresses. A significant effect of rock mass stress relief is achieved when creating cavities perpendicular to the action of maximum component of principal stresses.
As a result of numerical experiments, the conditions for the maximum efficiency of drilling a string of deep boreholes from the overlying level for unloading the mine workings of the underlying one are substantiated.
Model generation and stress-strain state calculations were carried out in the Sigma GT software, which implements the finite-element method in a volumetric formulation and allows modeling stress and strain fields taking into account the main geological and mining-engineering factors.
