Following the international procedures, aviation professionals are required to prove very
high psychological and physical standards. There are plenty of factors which might
affect a performance of aviation employees. A working environment of aviation
personnel is constantly changing, and this variability of their tasks escalates a lot of
stress, which further affect safety and quality of flights. There are a lot of stress
relieving techniques exercised by pilots, prior they take off. Some of them are selfregulatory
techniques and some are like classes conducted by a lector. This study deals
with a selection process of pilots samples and a research methodology, the both as the
essential criteria for successful completion of the project titled ?Application of the selfregulatory
methods for the preparation of flight crew?. Apart of the selection process,
the paper includes project hypothesis based on the analytical phase of the project. The
hypothesis are verified in the research phase of this project. The research part of this
project has had two phases. The paper describes evaluation indicators, specifically the
mental load and accuracy of pilot?s performance. Tested ones? individual abilities were
measured by the Response Time Meter. The study includes research methodologies for
the simulator environment or live flying as well as partial research results from the
measurement of the physiological parameters of the pilot. The results achieved in the
project and described in this study could help identify factors affecting pilots?
performance as well as introduction of the self-regulatory methods for pilots.
