The town of Vidin is supplied by underground water sources through shallow and shaft wells of the ?Raney? type on the terrace of the Danube river. The main water source is located near the village of Slanotran, 12 km northeast of Vidin and consists of 4 wells with horizontal drainage rays, type ?Raney?. In recent years, has been operating mainly well 1(R-1), which is able to supply the required quantities of water for the ?Vidin? group. The annual amount of water supplied by ?Slanotran? pump station is about 7300 thousand m3. Well 1 (R-1) is located 700 m from the Danube River and 98 m from the Topolovets River. The study examines the impact of the two rivers on the well 1 (R-1) as we have an operational facility in the area of interaction of groundwater and river water. For this purpose, the Jacob's method for confined aquifers and unsteady-state flow is used. The Jacob?s method (Cooper and Jacob 1946) is based on the Theis?s formula. The assumptions and conditions underlying the method are that aquifer has a seemingly infinite areal extent, it is homogeneous, isotropic and of uniform thickness, also the aquifer is pumped at a constant discharge rate. For the research is used data of obtained water quantities (m3) and operational water levels (m) of shaft well 1 (R-1) for 2013 and 2014. The cone of depression of the well is calculated and drawn. Conclusions about the impact of the two rivers on the well 1(R-1) are made.
