In the last decades in Romanian forests, a massive phenomenon of uncontrolled cut trees was observed, leading to a new environmental problem. In these conditions, the solar radiation affects the seedlings of some tree species as the beech and oak, and generally the entire life from these forests. In the last 5-6 years, a supplementary massive invasion of the white mistletoe was observed, especially associated with the silver fir and beech. The main objective of this paper is to associate the effects of the solar radiation inside the forest gaps with the existing tree seedlings and the invasive development of some other species. For analysis were selected mixed forests located in the Olt County, region Calimanesti, and in the Neamt County, forests near the Vaduri and Casin monastery. According to this statistical inventory, a specific area of 2 km x 2 km was selected for analysis, with a grid of analysis performed for each one. The shape of the gaps is elliptical with the longer axis oriented from east to west, with dimensions 100 x 200 m2. At the intersection of the grid-lines, trees older than 60 years and smaller than five years were selected, for a distance of 300 m around the forest gap. Each selected tree represents a sample plot. In places with a small intensity of radiation the mistletoe has been massively developed. In the selected area, for three years the dead trees due to the infection with mistletoe and the small trees without proper development have been noted. For the mature trees was analyzed the influence of the solar radiation in components, blue, red, and infrared. The crown of the seedling was modified due to some radiation absorbed by the adult tree leaves. A significant negative correlation between the height of the tree and the mistletoe apparition was also observed. Inside the gaps the composition and the regeneration of the seedlings were determined, their age, size, collar diameter, and height, correlated with the spectral composition of the received light. Finally, some conclusions and references are also mentioned.
