The aim of this paper is to introduce a small wastewater treatment plant in the Czech Republic with a capacity of 8,311 population equivalent, which was constructed in 2004.
The wastewater treatment plant is designed as a mechanical-biological treatment plant with nitrification, denitrification and aerobic sludge stabilization. The activation reactors are controlled by a dissolved oxygen concentration probe. For the time being, the ammonia nitrogen and nitrate probe is only used for current concentration overview.
The plant receives wastewater from three municipalities. The incoming wastewater streams are mixed in the inlet pumping station at the WWTP. The entire sewerage system in these three municipalities from which wastewater is conveyed to the wastewater treatment plant includes a total of 13 pumping stations. For this reason, the wastewater may not be of high quality. The water permit specifies a requirement for 12 samples a year. Analyzes of these samples must show values that are lower than the limit values specified in the permit. If these limit values are exceeded, charges are applied according to the relevant tables defined in Government Regulation 401/2015 Sb.
The presented paper describes construction of the wastewater treatment plant, including technologies, volumes and quality of wastewater at the WWTP inlet and outlet. Furthermore, the outflow parameters over several years of operation in relation to compliance with the water permit requirements are evaluated and the overall treatment efficiency is determined. It also includes a description and consideration over the WWTP operating issues.
