Recycling of asphalt is an important technological process applied worldwide. The strategy is to use as much milled, ripped or broke asphalt material into the new mixture. With the correct technological design, the maximum appreciation of this material is achieved.
Due to the dominant use of asphalt mixtures in pavements, it is important to address the possibilities of their recycling. At present, a sufficient amount of reclaimed asphalt with good potential for further use is available in Slovakia. The problem is the aging of the bitumen binder, susceptibility to environmental influences, and traffic load, which causes degradation of its properties. There are ways to partially restore these properties and thus restore the parameters of the whole mixture. It is possible to use various types of regenerative additives - rejuvenators. At the same time, the use of recycling technologies has a positive impact on the environment: saving non-renewable resources, reducing temperature and energy consumption in the production and laying of asphalt mixtures. It is necessary to deal with this issue in Slovakia in the future, either in research or in practice.
About the legislation, the recommended amounts for pavement layers and the possibilities of batching of reclaimed material on the plant we wrote in [1]. In this paper, we want to focus on the properties of asphalt with reclaimed material and the possibilities of regeneration of aged bitumen binder. Great attention is paid to this area worldwide, but in Slovakia, there is at least experience in practice and research.
