Every fire generates smoke and heat. The arising smoke and heat have a significant impact on human health and life inside a fire-affected area. In real situations, two basic situations can occur. In the first situation, smoke and heat are extracted outside, usually using smoke and heat removal equipment. In the second situation, where the smoke and heat removal device is not installed, smoke and heat accumulate inside the room without their removal outside. Although the situation where smoke accumulates inside an area without being extracted outside has been the subject of some earlier research, there are still questions related to this issue. The link to design standards in the Czech Republic which do not currently provide relevant procedures for solving this task is also problematic.
It would be good to focus on large-scale premises such as shopping centers, cultural and social events. In order to investigate the accumulation of smoke in an area without external evacuation, it is necessary to establish fire scenarios first. The paper presents the procedure and recommended options of fire scenarios. The given fire scenarios will be subsequently used for the assessment of smoke accumulation in space using the selected fire model or real experiment.
