The purpose of this evaluation is the assessment of acceptability of the operation of a projected supermarket and its impact on public health status in its close environment. This assessment is instigated by the demand on commercially usable premises. The growing consumption of households in the present society focused on consuming leads to tendencies to extend networks of commercial units offering wide range of both food and non ? food products. In the environment of the Czech Republic, such units are built not only on the edges of intravilans, but also on strategically located spots with a large transport accessibility for the consumers, and even not far from residential areas. Operation of such unit brings along side effects bearing influence on its close surrounding, such as noise burden, increased emissions of harmful substances and last, but not least, an increased demand on individual psychological resistance. For the evaluation, a method pf Risk Assessment created in US EPA was applied. This method is based on conclusions provided by noise and emission dispersion studies, which also provides models of noise burdens and the impact of being exposed to chemical pollution. The contribution describes relation between the alteration of residential quality and health impacts on so increased anthropic pressure. As the most important, out of the public health point of view, seems to be the increased emission and noise burden in the close surroundings of the commercial units. This study solves, implicating models of noise and harmful chemicals dispersion, the impact of the operation of supermarket located near the residential area on the health of the permanent residents. It has been found out that the eventual impacts of the operation correspond to socially guaranteed level of public health protection.
