Hospitals are an essential element of public infrastructure. Some aspects of civil infrastructure have become considered critical. Critical infrastructure means an element of critical infrastructure or a system of critical infrastructure (healthcare system), the disruption of the function of which would have a severe impact on state security, provision of basic living needs of the population, and the health of persons or state economy. To the critical infrastructure sector belongs transport, energy, agriculture, healthcare and several others. Hospitals represent an essential part of the critical infrastructure. However, hospitals were not built in such a way that they are not affected by any disaster. Some of the disasters could have the cascading effect. This cascading effect could cause several others situations such as power outage. The aim of this paper will be to present possible risks for the hospitals. A closer focus will be on the risks that have an impact on power outages. The data will be obtained based on the questionnaire survey, which will then be statistically evaluated. The data will be presented as disaster with the impact to the hospitals. The evaluation of hospitals is focused on facilities in the Czech Republic. Statistical data will be confronted by links to professional articles dealing with the issue. At the end of the paper will be added reccomendation. The reccomendation will be aim to the population protection.
