The implementation of a competence-based approach in higher education suggests the reinforcement of personality-oriented education, the use of technologies that demonstrate the personal growth of the student, and the formation of professionalism. For this purpose, traditional teaching methods are complemented by innovative ones that create conditions for student activity, putting him in a situation of free choice and decision making. The article focuses on the training portfolios technology application in the educational process as one of the active methods of future geography teachers? professional training. It examines: the nature of educational portfolio technology, its features in comparison with traditional teaching methods, stages of its implementation; the structure of the training portfolio is described. An important component of the geography teachers? training is to master the analytical work skills. The geographer must be able to carry out a spatio-temporal analysis of the phenomenon development under investigation, the process as the basis to formulate reasonable conclusions, the development forecast. Relevant competencies are reflected in the training portfolio and portfolio resume. A model for students assessing with the training portfolio using in the discipline "Regional Studies" is proposed. The e-presentation possibilities of students? educational portfolio, the preparation on its basis of an e-portfolio resume for university graduates are considered. The results of the pedagogical experiment on the application of the training portfolio technology are described; a conclusion about the effectiveness of it in future geography teachers? training is made.
