A directional coupler is a passive device designed to divide the power between its outputs in a given ratio. The value of this ratio depends on the resistances of the segments with which the device is assembled. It is important to understand how the miniaturization efficiency of a 3 dB directional coupler varies at different operating frequencies. Modeling and calculation of the characteristics of the devices was carried out in a specialized program Cadence AWR. The first step in the work was the design of taps according to the traditional scheme - on conventional microstrip segments. The work considered the following couplers operating at frequencies of 0.5-2.5 GHz. Each design has been reduced by more than 3 times. The obtained models of compact couplers can be used in various devices, for example, in power supply circuits for antenna arrays. The proposed approach to the design of miniature couplers can be applied in other devices where it is possible to replace the segments with similar structures.
