In thisstudy, the influence factor of the vertical movements of the earth's crust was taken into account. Such phenomena are strongly extended in time, but have a greater influence on the hydrographic network, for example, the closest example for the North-West of the Russian Plain is the transfer of runoff from Lake Ladoga from the Vuoksa River to the Neva River.
Reconstruction scenarios of flow direction changing is important to improve the safety of the population and sustainable use of territories. The most important artificial waterways pass through the study area. These are transport arteries - Volgo-Baltic, Severo-Dvinsky and Belomor- Baltic Canals. Water use is associated with a new industrial production, agriculture, water supply of cities and towns, timber rafting, fisheries.
In the course of the study, a model of linear change in the vertical movements of the lithosphere was carried out, with the help of which the states of the earth's crust and hydro-network in the past were reconstructed, confirming some studies of paleogeography. Next, the states of the lithosphere and the boundaries of large basins in the future were modeled, which showed quite change in the boundaries of watersheds on one of the key sections of the Volga-Baltic Gateway system.
