Quarry sites are famous for the different types of materials produced. Many aggregate elements, extracted by different methods in quarry activities, such as blasting operations, are widely used for different applications, such as construction, road paving and monuments. Generally, the process to obtain these materials is very complex. A stationary production facility does not require machinery to be moved or relocated, whereas the quarry process involves machinery such as wheel loaders, trucks and articulated dump trucks. These and employed in the production cycle, which consists of several sequential stages, extraction, hauling and crushing, each characterized by a specific working time. An important parameter is the time required to produce the output products. It strongly influences the productivity of the quarry site. Often the quarry process is not synchronized in all its activities and this generates delays in the production process. The main contribution of this work is to identify improvements to increase the productivity of the quarry site and, at the same time, contain the production costs. The work shows, through the PERT method, a good way to choose whether to improve the machinery or buy more in order to reduce the output time and increase productivity.
