Consideration of the issues of interaction of hydrogeological and geomechanical processes in mining development at water objects in difficult geological conditions is proposed. It is argued that the prediction of the interaction of these processes can be carried out on the basis of complementary deformation approach and the approach based on the theory of cracks. The issues in relation between the mining development and the negative impact on surface and underground waters as well on the safety and technology of production are considered. The relationship between the formation of induced water-conducting cracks as channels for migration of natural mineralized mine waters affecting the drinking water horizons is shown. Also shown an example of transformation of the river coastal areas and losses of minerals in pillars by partial extraction of minerals in a safety pillar which allows to extract not only economic benefits but also to ensure a solution for safe mining and protection of a water body.
