For the development of traffic management systems in order to optimize it, especially traffic control at intersections, it is necessary to model traffic flows and their main characteristics. The purpose of this work is to propose a methodology for creating such models, to develop algorithms that simulate the operation of traffic lights and the movement of vehicles, to develop an application that plausibly simulates traffic flows and their control.
In this work, for modeling the transport system, we proposed the principle of blocks, which allows us to construct a fragment of a transport network of various configurations. We use Petri nets to simulate the events that occur and change the states, where the marking of the net correspond to vehicles. Based on continuous Petri nets, we developed an algorithm to simulate flow changes. When modelling randomness, we use random variable play. By simulating sensors, we model the receipt of information about the presence of cars at the stop line and their approximate number in the queue. Fuzzification algorithm prepares data for traffic light control using fuzzy logic.
As a result, we have developed an application for constructing various models of the transport network. The application interface allows you to select a large number of parameters. The simulated movement is displayed on the screen in real time, which makes it possible to use the application to collect statistics, optimize traffic management. It will also help in making decisions about changing the transport network and detecting the possible consequences of previously made changes.
