The objective of the study is to calculate with highest reliability the values of the maximum runoff with different probabilities in Nishava catchment, in relation to elaboration of flood risk maps for Godech town.
To calculate the maximum runoff of the Nishava catchment, the regionalization method was applied. This method was developed in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and is widely used in practice. It is based on eight characteristics and factors of catchment areas and river systems: catchment area; urbanized area; afforestation; average slope; length of the river along the main rivers from the watershed to the confluence; length of the river from the center of gravity of the watershed to its confluence; average annual precipitation; landscape factor. The described characteristics and factors are included in a multiple linear regression equation by which the maximum runoff with different probability is calculated. The main result is the calculation of the maximum runoff of the Nishava River near the town of Godech. The obtained results show that the regionalization method is particularly suitable for calculating the maximum runoff in unobserved catchments, such as the Nishava catchment. |
