The researches were carried out in a catchment with a pronounced torrential character and flood risk (Slanic catchment) located in the Siret catchment, Romania. Precipitation data were available from the monitoring network of the Siret Water Basin Administration, from 2019 and 2020; given their continuity they were considered suitable to allow hydrological modeling. A hydrological modeling was followed, that simulates the rain-drainage processes of the water systems, given that in the studied catchment there are a series of objectives subject to flood risk. The ArcGIS program and the HEC-GeoHMS extension were used to obtain the data. The data obtained was exported to the HEC-HMS hydrological modeling program. The surface runoff evaluation was performed by automatically calculating the curve number (CN) in the GIS environment using the specialized extension ArcGIS-Runoff. In order to determine the number of CN curves, data on land use in the Slanic river basin and information on existing soils were needed. The simulation results are also stored in HEC-DSS (Data Storage System) and can be used together with other study software; from the HEC-DSS environment the modeling data can be viewed graphically for each catchment and can be exported in various formats. The hydrological model was calibrated using the precipitations and flows registered at the Cire?oaia hydrometric station located in the studied catchment.
