The fact of interaction of calcium silicate with the key elements present in the spent nuclear fuel is established. Nanopowders of synthetic calcium silicate with a given particle size 10, 2 and 0.6 microns were obtained. It was found experimentally that a decrease in the particle size of the calcium silicate powder contributes to an increase in its sorption properties (distribution coefficients and static exchange capacity). If for uranium static exchange capacity in the considered range of powder particle sizes has changed slightly, then for strontium it has increased by 35%. This fact is extremely useful for applied radiochemistry, since it opens up a real possibility of converting liquid radioactive waste into a solid state, followed by their cementation and placement in conditions of long-term safe storage. It is shown that there are differences in the adsorption behavior of heavy cations-uranium, plutonium, and their fission products - strontium, erbium, and other similar objects. These facts allow us to clarify and expand the elements of the theory of adsorption of heavy cations (uranium, plutonium) and their fission products (strontium, erbium) into solid phases based on highly dispersed calcium silicate. The use of synthesized modified powders for wastewater treatment and as components of the structure of mineral-like matrix materials for the disposal of certain fractions of radionuclides is proposed. The experimental data obtained are of interest to the industry in solving the actual problems of binding and disposal of dangerous radionuclides.
