The article analyzes the influence of operation on all structures downstream the stream on the water content and dryness in the stream. As area of interest was chosen the catchment of a small stream in the foothill region with a gauging station and several water structures built on this stream in the last century. Seven structures with the most significant impact were examined. Multiple reconnaissance of the terrain and structures were performed, in different time periods; the existing operational manuals of water structures and hydrological data were analyzed, and various measurements were realized (their need and importance arose from previous analyzes). The results showed a discrepancy between the operation manuals and the actual operation on the weirs, which leads to drying of the stream in its lower parts (above the confluence with the next river) even by normal hydrological situations. The problem of small streams in particular, there is a lack of hydrological data in the river basin, in the solved area it is only one gauging station in the uppermost section of the stream. The elaboration of a master operational manual for the entire stream with all structures in accordance with hydrological data would ensure efficient water management, especially in times of climate change. This would be a powerful tool in the hands of the watercourse administrator, who could then respond flexibly to the current hydrological situation. However, its elaboration is further conditioned by the processing of hydrological data in online time with a prediction for the next months of the year. This part is still in the process of completion.
