Considering the high potential threat to the environment and humans caused by the components of dust and gas emissions, the aluminum industry belongs to the category of industries of increased danger to public health. Violation of the process of apoptosis control under the negative influence of environmental factors leads to homeostasis shifts and is one of the many factors contributing to the development of immune regulation disorders.
This paper aims to assess the features of cell death in the adult population of residential areas of influence of an aluminum production enterprise.
Materials and methods. The study group is 47 persons living in the area of aerogenic influence of sources of aluminum production emissions; the comparison group is 22 persons living outside the influence area of sources of the enterprise emissions. Chemical and analytical cytofluorimetric research methods were used in the study.
Results. It was found that the aluminum content is 1.8 times higher in the biological media (blood) of the study group subjects than similar indicators in the comparison group subjects (p<0.05). Cytofluorimetric analysis of membrane markers showed that the expression of the CD95 receptor was significantly reduced by 2.5 times (p<0.05), and the number of Annexin V-FITC+7AAD cells was reduced by 3.4 times in the adult population of the study group relative to the values obtained in the population living outside the influence area of the aluminum production enterprise. Evaluating the odds ratio of changes in the immunological tests with an increase in the aluminum concentration in biological media allowed establishing a significant decrease in CD95+ reception with an increase in the aluminum concentration in urine (R2=0.23 at p<0.05).
Conclusions. The obtained results indicate a change in the perception of the apoptotic signal by an immunocompetent cell and a decrease in cell death by the apoptosis mechanism in the conditions of excessive aluminum content in the biological media.
