This article is devoted to the assessment of climatic comfort on the example of the coastal cities of Sochi and Azov. The work emphasizes the role of the natural component as a kind of foundation, within the framework of which anthropogenic changes in a number of parameters characterizing the environment are manifested. In this regard, when carrying out a number of assessment studies, in particular, when carrying out a geoecological assessment of a territory, taking into account the natural component or its fundamental characteristics seems to be very relevant to the authors. The article outlines the principles of the author's assessment of climatic comfort, based on the principles of anthropocentrism and assuming assessment work on the diagnosis of climatic comfort in three stages. At the first stage, the thermal impact of climatic conditions on the human body is assessed. At the second stage, the level of pathogenicity of the meteorological conditions of the climate is assessed. At the third stage, the dynamic component of the air in the lower atmosphere is taken into account and the climatic potential for self-cleaning of the atmosphere is calculated. The result of the implementation of all three stages of the author's concept is the calculation of the integral coefficient of climatic comfort of the territory, proposed by the authors in early works, the analysis of the results of which allows us to conclude about the presence or absence of climatic comfort in the study area. The application of the principles of the author's concept of the climatic comfort of the territory and the assessment of the integral indicator of the climatic comfort made it possible to carry out a comparative assessment of the climatic conditions of the coastal cities of Sochi and Azov, Russia.
