Technology of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is used to obtain ligature in Fe-B system. The SHS Technology can also be successfully used for obtaining ligatures from metallurgical waste, which is the subject of investigation in the presented paper. To separate melted alloy of Fe-B and slag of the process, synthesis is carried out in centrifugal machine. Separation degree between melted alloy of Fe-B and slag in the graphite cup inside the rotating reactor, and, therefore, output degree of final product is greatly affected by temperature of the cup. To model temperature field of the process nonlinear system of heat conduction equations is used, which describes thermo-physical processes taking place in the different medias in the reactor. Initial-boundary conditions corresponding to the physical process are formulated. MATLAB Partial Differential Equation (PDE) Toolbox, which is based on the finite element analysis, is used to obtain solution to the nonlinear system of PDEs. Experiments and calculations are carried out for graphite cup in the rotating reactor as well as for the graphite cup in the stationary chamber under atmospheric pressure. Due to changes in pressures and densities of the medias inside and outside of the cup by the centrifugal forces, graphite cup in the rotating reactor is cooled faster. Calculated results show good accordance with experimental data.
