Lean manufacturing is an innovative approach to business process management that allows organizations to increase their competitiveness by producing goods or providing services in the shortest possible time and at the lowest cost with the quality required by the consumer. In the paper, the authors provide an analysis of foreign and Russian requirements in the field of lean manufacturing. The authors studied the experience of implementing the lean production methodology in a dairy production company, identified factors that hinder and stimulate the development of a lean manufacturing management system. In order to manage the development of lean manufacturing at the studied enterprise, the authors formulated and proposed recommendations for improving the lean production program. The proposed activities are combined into four groups: management (ensuring a systematic approach to the process of collecting and implementing applications for improvement, creating an innovative environment for the development of LM, improving communication between departments), economic (development of mechanisms for project financing, revising the procedure for rewarding personnel, developing and monitoring of economic indicators as a result of LM management system), socio-cultural (improving the motivation program for employees, raising awareness / competence of management, specialists, spreading the LM philosophy among contractors) and technical and technological (transfer of technology / knowledge from Academy to Business, creating a platform of best practices, combining the concept of LM with the needs of sustainable development).
