The purpose of the research is to analyze the development of techniques and the formation of ESG -Rating and investment attractiveness of natural resources companies. The basis of the author's technique laid calculation complex rated on the basis of financial and non-financial indicatives: air pollution; water usage; solid waste emission; environmental costs; investment activity. The developed method scientific novelty is in the usage of a systematic approach to the development of the ESG - Rating and due to the account of economic and environmental indicators relationship calculated according to public companies’ reports. Rating is a complex first index, which allows to evaluate not only the impact of the company on the environment, but even the impact of environmental and reputational risks to market’s multipliers. The author's methodology practical value is that the results of the study can be used for investors and government regulators for the increasing the reliability of rating results through the use of open factual data, as well as dynamic indicators (average annual rates of change in indicators), which ensure the comparability of data from different companies. The article presents the results of technique approbation on the example of metallurgical company PJSC "NLMK", which allowed to assess the representativeness of its public data for investors. The research has significant potential in using the rating agencies and investment funds.
