Kazakhstan is on leading position in the world in terms of reserves and mining of copper ores. There are 30 deposits with approved reservest. Nowadays, the copper industry of the Rrepublic is provided with a raw material base. Among them, the Zhezkazgan deposit remains unique in terms of reserves and a set of components. The main geological and industrial types of copper deposits (in terms of mining) are deposits of copper sandstones (58%), copper pyrite (17.1%), copper porphyry (8.2%), scarn (4.2%), etc. In the total balance of reserves, ores such as copper sandstones account for 28%, copper porphyry – 42%. Deposits of copper sandstones Zhezkazgan, Itauyz, Zhamanaybat, etc. are located in Central Kazakhstan, copper-porphyry – in Central (Bozshchakol, Konyrat, etc.) and Southern (Koksai, Aktogay, Aidarly) Kazakhstan. Among the copper-pyrite deposits are distinguished: named after 50 years of October, Priorskoye, etc. – in Mugalzhar; Akbastau, Kosmurun – in Chingiz. Of the copper-skarn deposits, the Sayak group is known, and Shatyrkul is known from quartz-sulfide (vein copper) deposits. In addition to the listed leading types, copper-nickel deposits (Maksut, etc.), copper-zeolite deposits of the manto type (Temirlik), etc. are known in Kazakhstan. The depletion of reserves of previously discovered deposits raises the question of the discovery of new natural sources that lie deep. A new theoretical framework is proposed for the prediction of copper deposits, based on the provisions of the plume-tectonic concept, taking into account metallogenic analysis.
