ASSESSMENT OF OPERATIONAL RISKS SPECIFIC TO THE TRANSPORT CHAIN OF DANGEROUS GOODS BY ROAD.

(STEF92 Technology, 2026, Claudia Miron, GABRIEL DRAGOS VASILESCU, DANIELA CARMEN RUS, IOAN GABRIEL ILCEA, AURELIAN HORIA NICOLA)

This paper highlights the results of the assessment of operational risks related to the components of the dangerous goods transport chain. Due to the fact that multiple parties are involved in handling and transport procedures, numerous different risks may arise during activities involving dangerous goods. By identifying and assessing risks, the most critical ones are identified and evaluated according to the potential damage they may cause to the entire transport chain. The results of the risk assessment in the t...

(STEF92 Technology, 2026, Daniela Rus, CLAUDIA IULIANA MIRON, IONEL BARBUL, ALEXANDRU FLORIN SANTA, DENISA TUDOR)

The road transport of dangerous goods may have severe consequences in the event of an accident. The consequences of a road accident involving a heavy vehicle transporting dangerous goods can affect not only the truck driver but also the nearby population. Route selection is a complex issue, influenced by multiple parameters that may vary over the course of a day, a week, or a month. The ultimate objective is to enhance safety through the complete digitalization of the risk management process for the transport of d...

THERMAL STRUCTURE AND SEISMOGENIC LAYER THICKNESS IN THE LENA DELTA REGION, RUSSIAN ARCTIC

(STEF92 Technology, 2026, Mikhail Novikov, Artem Krylov)

This study examines the thermal control of the lower boundary of seismicity in the Lena Delta, eastern Russian Arctic, using the depth distribution of local earthquakes recorded by temporary seismic networks in 2016–2018 together with temperature–depth curves derived from crustal heat-flow modeling. This study contributes by comparing the observed lower cutoff of local seismicity with modeled crustal temperatures, thereby adding a seismological constraint to previous seismic, thermal, and magnetic interpretati...

(STEF92 Technology, 2026, ASIMOPOLOS LAURENTIU, ADRIAN-ARISTIDE ASIMOPOLOS, NATALIA-SILVIA ASIMOPOLOS)

The geomagnetic field varies in time and space, being a signal composed of periodic and non-periodic elements and is monitored in a triaxial system at observatories around the world. Based on data from INTERMAGNET observatories, we analyze the strongest storm of 2026, which occurred during January 19-21. The methodology used is spectral evaluation (Fourier, wavelet, signal decomposition into approximations and details with various functions on different levels, etc.). The wavelet technique allowed us to analyze th...

ANALYSIS OF SEISMOTECTONIC ACTIVITY OF IONIAN FAULT ZONE, ALBANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Olgert Gjuzi, Rrapo Ormeni, P.N. Naço, Donald Mucaj, Dashamir Gega)

The seismicity of Albania is primarily driven by the collision between the Adria microplate and the Albanian orogen. The Ionian fault zone, located in southwestern Albania, is characterized by NW-SE trending neotectonic thrust faults with oblique components. These faults are predominantly marked by NW extension and include pre-Pliocene overthrust faults subjected to pure compressive stress. Occasionally, these overthrust faults are intersected by NE-SW-oriented thrust faults. The Ionian overthrust fault zone exten...

The orogeny in Albania and its surrounding, in collision with Adria microplate is divided in two domains of a different present-day tectonic regimes: the external domain with a compressional regime and the internal domain with an extensional regime. Two main fault systems are distinguished: 1) the longitudinal fault system, trending NW-SE up to NNW-SSE, represented by thrust and reverse faults, and 2) the traversal fault system NE-SW trending represented by strike-slip. (Stef92 Technology, 2011-06-20, Perparim Ameti)

The main purpose of studying detailed gravity data is to provide a better understanding of the geological layers and density of topographic masses. The gravity method is a relatively cheap and very efficient, especially by using airborne techniques. Measurements of gravity provide informati on about densities of the Earth subsurface. There is a wide range in density among rock types, and therefore geologists can make inferences about the distribution of mass density. In the case of gravity surveys by using airborn...

It is shown by experience that direct double integration of strong motion data with the aim of generating earthquake displacement records usually leads to unrealistic values of residual displacements even for earthquake s with moderate magnitudes or at far epicentral distances. The appearance of veloc ity and displacement records suggests that changes in the zero level of acceleration are responsible for these drifts. Therefore, in order to calculate real displacements, baseline correction seems consequential. Thi...

A LANDSLIDE THREATENING THE SPILLWAY OF A DAM: AN EXAMPLE OF OZEN DAM (SIVAS-TURKEY)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2003, B. Saglam, I. Yilmaz)

Recently, numerous landslides occurred in the southern part of the \"Ozen Dam (Sivas-Turkey) threatening the spillway. Kinematical analyses showed that the potential slope instability direction is NW corresponding to the dominant slope directions. Geotechnical surveys confirmed the rock slopes are highly prone to instability, and failures occurred in the limits between basement rock and debris material in the alteration zone as a planar surface. Pre-existing failures, excavations in the toe of the slopes, low qual...

THE REHABILITATION AND ANALYSIS OF SLOPE INSTABILITY IN COAL OPEN PIT MINES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2003, M. S. Delibalta, E. Nasuf)

Many production open-spaces and slopes is occurred during or after both production and overburden stripping in coal open pit mines. Under these different conditions sometimes slope stability problems in pit embakments may occur resulting loss of money. In this article the design principles and range of instability of such embakments are introduced. The purpose of this study is to exhibit the methods of field rehabilitation and measures taking in to consideration against possible slope instability.
