TO BE OR NOT TO BE GREEN? THE CHALLENGE OF URBAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE POST-SOCIALIST CITY. CASE STUDY: CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Alexandra SANDU)

The sustainable development is an important issue for our society. Thus, urban green spaces are a key element in order to assure a sustainable urban development. Although, most often they are associated as having only an aesthetic function, the urban green spaces perform important socio-economic and environmental functions. Therefore, ensuring the existence of a great number of green spaces within an urban area is one of the objectives of the new European policies for urban planning, taking into account the sustai...

UAV TECHNOLOGY USED IN FACILITY MANAGEMENT IN THE CAMPUS OF THE BUCHAREST UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES AND VETERINARY MEDICINE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, MIHAI Doru, MUDURA Radu, CALUGARU Andreea, SARBU Nicoleta, ILINCA Liviu)

The fast pace at which decisions are made today, demand near-instant visibility for all the assets. In such a demanding environment, the management of a campus that hosts over 4000 students every year, in the most crowded city of Romania, is by all means a challenge. The emerging of the UAV technology provides insight into facility management, assuring asset inventories, spatial context and strategy for further investments and activities. The workflow described in this paper starts with acquiring data in the field...

USING FIT-FOR-PURPOSE METHODS FOR COLLECTING DATA REGARDING CHANGES IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Ana-Cornelia Badea, Gheorghe Badea, Student Andreea Iliescu-Cremeneanu, Lect. Doina Vasilca)

In this paper we want to highlight the advantages of creating and using forms for collecting data regarding the main changes in an urban environment, including cadastral and utilities data. These forms can be accessed from mobile devices and the reported results are analyzed in a desktop application. The users are able to send their location linked with attribute data. This approach can be used successfully in a working team or can be disseminated for interested community members, as a crowdsource possibility. Cro...

VARIABLE RATE NITROGEN APPLICATION ON WINTER WHEAT FIELDS IN CENTRAL EUROPE CONDITION: IMPACT ON QUALITATIVE PARAMETERS OF GRAIN AND CONTENT OF NITROGEN IN PLANT

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Jakub Elbl, Vojtech Lukas, Jan Hladky, Jindrich Kynicky, Martin Brtnicky)

Variable rate application (VRA) of mineral nitrogen fertilizers (NF) represents one of the parts of the new farming practice пїЅ precision agriculture. VRA has been developed to address the spatial variability of fields and vegetation. The objective of this study was to assess the potential effect of VRA of NF on qualitative parameters of grain and grain yield in real farm conditions. Assessment of the potential effect of VAR of NF application was performed in Spearhead Czech Company which has been using VAR techn...

WEBAPP FOR HIGHLIGHT CHANGES DUE TO NATURAL DISASTERS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Ana-Cornelia Badea, Gheorghe Badea, Student Andreea Iliescu-Cremeneanu, Lect. Doina Vasilca)

GIS Web Applications are very useful when it is needed to highlight important changes in time in a specific area. ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS include an embedded interactive application for designing and building web applications from a web map. The application works on desktop browsers, tablets, and smart phones without needing a plugin. WebAppBuilder has a lot of customizable themes and widgets that allow to deliver advanced functionality, such as high-quality printing, geoprocessing, editing, and search...

WHAT PATTERN(S) FOR THE URBAN SPRAWL OF THE POST-SOCIALIST ROMANIAN CITIES?

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Alexandra SANDU, Octavian GROZA)

The urban sprawl has an important impact on the socio-economic evolution of a city as well as on its environment. A defining characteristic of the western European capitalist city, the urban sprawl was not often observed in the urban areas of the Eastern Europe. However, it has become more and more relevant after the 90s because the transition to the post-socialist era determined an increasing development of the sub-urban areas of the cities from the ex-communist bloc. This paper studies the case of the post-socia...

INTEROPERABILITY IN DROUGHT MONITORING

(Stef92 Technology, 2011-06-20, Andrej Ceglar)

In recent years major advances in monitoring processes of sectoral control systems have been observed as well as the lack of interope rability of spatial info rmation systems. In the frame of the EuroGEOSS project inte roperability between Drought Management Centre for South-Eastern Europe (DMC SEE) and European Drought Observatory (EDO) has been developed. For interoperability processes open source tools and Open Geo-data Interoperability Specifications (OpenGIS) were used.

THE IMPACT PROGRAMME. EUROPEAN STRUCTURAL FUNDS FOR ROMANIAN RESEARCH "MULTIDISCIPLINARY REGIONAL CENTER OF RESEARCH-ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGY DEVELOPMENT"

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, A. Istrate, M. N. Frinculeasa, A. M. Dragne)

Romania’s joining the European Union implies its convergence with the economic European Space, both at a nominal and at a real space. The IMPACT programme stimulates the development of living research development projects and innovation through which directions of the Lisbon strategy of the European Union may contribute to improve the process of convergence and reduce regional disparities by absorbing structural funds devoted to research, technological development and innovation. The Valahia University of Targov...
