ADVANCEMENT OF THE LAND RECLAMATION OF THE KOLUBARA OPENCAST MINES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, S. Ilic, M. Ristovski, G. Dimkic)

Kolubara opencast mines are the biggest producer of coal in Yugoslavia. Current production is about 26 million ton per year from four mines. Probable reserves are about 2,6 billions, what is 19\% of total coal reserves in Yugoslavia Within coal open-pit mining activities in basin of Kolubara there are about 515 hectares (ha) of soil degraded by waste dumps that require recultivation. The paper gives a review of the areas at each coal mine to undergo recultivation in the forthcoming period. It also presents prepara...

BLASTING TECHNOLOGY AND KNOW-HOW OFFER WAYS TO MAKE MINING-QUARRYING-EXTRACTIVE ACTIVITIES MORE EFFECTIVE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. OUR HELLENIC REALITY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, E. Baliktsis)

It has become lucid, explicit and quite intelligible in the latest years that blast design and materialization cannot only be the «empirical relation between blaster and rock». This «relation» is ruled by scientific knowledge and know – how and also by technological developments. It is quite necessary to embody to our experience and practical knowledge, the up –to – date technological developments and the available know – how. That is if we do want our efforts to be more productive, safer and with the ...

CAUTIOUS BLASTING TECHNIQUES AND AN APPLICATION FOR ULUBURUN TUNNEL BETWEEN GIRESUN-ESPIYE IN TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, B. Ercikdi, A. Kesimal, E. Yilmaz)

“The Black Sea Coastal Way Rehabilitation Project” which started seven years ago in an attempt to solve the traffic congestion in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey is still going on as planned. The project involves the rehabilitation and shortening of the present motorway and hence the construction of new tunnels and riprap material for filling the sea are required in some places. By the completion of this project, a considerable amount of time spent on highway will be saved and will probably lead to a re...

COAL DUST SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, M. Pranchova, HR. Popivanov, L. Vitaonv)

A real problem of coal transport and storing is discussed. Contemporary technical solutions of coal dust suppression systems with spray for belt conveyors and outdoor discharges or coal stores are analysed. Technical decisions for decreasing of small dust particles concentration bellow the permissible norm are proposed.

EFFECTS OF PH AND SALT CONCENTRATION ON OIL AGGLOMERATION OF BITUMINOUS COAL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, Y. Cebeci)

In this study, batch agglomeration tests were conducted with Zonguldak bituminous coal to determine the effects of kerosene concentration, pH and salt concentration. In the evaluation of experimental results, the turbidity values were used. In the experiments, oil concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20\% by weight were used. The low turbidity values were obtained at oil concentration of 20\% by weight. Between pH 3 and 11, the change of the turbidity values were investigated. At the low and high pH values, turbidity v...

IMPACT OF CHANGE IN DUMPING TECHNOLOGY ON TAILING TRANSPORT COSTS USING TRANSPORT SYSTEM FROM “VELIKI KRIVELJ” OPEN PIT TO THE WORKING CAVITY OF “BOR” OPEN PIT

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, D. Krzanovic, R. Lekovski, M. Zivkovic)

This work presents the recognitions for possible costs reduction of waste transport by conveyor system from the open pit “Veliki Krivelj” to the open pit “Bor” by the use of new dumping technology into the working excavation of the open pit “Bor”. Instead of previous used dumping technology connecting with bulldozers, a technology of direct dumping was discussed. The obtain results show that an important costs reduction of waste transport and dumping is possible from 0,1035 \$/t to 0,0655 \$/t by the u...

MANAGEMENT OF POST MINING LAND AND WATER IN INDIAN MINES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, A. K. Agarwal, P. K Jha)

India is a growing economy with sizeable industrialisation and mining sector. About 500 million tons of minerals are produced in the country annually with 80 \% of coal. Almost entire quantity of industrial minerals are coming from open cast mining. Indian population is more than one billion which is 16 \% of world population residing only in fortieth part of the global area. There is no doubt the environment is of greatest relevance to India. Indian economy is based on Agriculture, which can not grow without ampl...

POTENTIAL OF RISK AND REHABILITATION FOR THE AREA THAT FORMED AFTER MINING OPERATIONS IN THE TKI- GELI MUGLA REGION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, M. S. Delibalta, E. Nasuf)

Mining sector, is closely related to natural environment, is different from other industrial operations. Many production open-spaces and slopes is occurred during or after both production and overburden stripping in coal open pit mines. Geometry of these open-spaces and slopes depend on overburden thickness, gratness of operation area and selected open pit technology. This, use and reclamtion of the area, is very significant for environmental assessment. The alternatives of different use for the area may be desing...

RECLAMATION PLANNING FOR COAL MINE IN ISTANBUL, AGACLI REGION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, T. Dogan)

Mines being as unrenovated resources have to be operated where they deposit. Mining activities are inevitably carried out mostly at forests or cultivated lands and close to urban areas. Almost every facet of mining activity can create an undesirable visual impact. Reclamation of partially or totally destructed land by variety facilities should be taken into consideration before the beginning of mining and should also be put into reality in parallel with mining operation. Therefore, the cost and period of reclamati...
