An opportunity for investigation of dam deformation processes based on periodically determined spatial chord length is discussed. The main priorities of using such geodetic determinations in comparison with the mass applied in the practice coordinate differences are shown. A method for dam investigation based on the deformations-theory and on the finite elements method is proposed.
