Detailed petrographic studies, whole rock geochemistry and in situ U-Pb geochronology of syenite from Iwo area of the southwestern Nigeria has been performed. The results indicate that the syenite is metaaluminous belonging to the calc-alkaline magmatic series whose parental melt was derived fr om melting of the upper mantle/lower crustal source.
