Statistics analyses confirm that the most common reason of dam failures and accidents is overflow and seepage. The issue of seepage is related to the reliability of the sealing elements in the body and the foundation of the dams. So far, 290 dams have been built in Slovakia, of which 50 are included in the ICOLD register. Most of them have a grout curtain in the foundation.
