GEOTHERMAL RESOURCES OF GEORGIA: PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Elizbarashvili, K. Lataria, O. Vardigoreli, N. Naskidashvili, R. Maisuradze)

As traditional organic fuel resources are being depleted in the modern world, energy crisis and environmental situation aggravate and the attention of the mankind is increasingly drawn towards untraditional, renewable sources of energy and opportunities of their efficient use. Georgia has significant geothermal resources concentrated in numerous thermal springs and basins. There are two main basins of thermal waters in Georgia. The water in the Kolkheti basin is distinguished for its low mineralization, it is over...

LOW RESOURCE CONSUMPTION BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION BY USE OF LIFE-CYCLE ASSESSMENT IN DESIGN AND DECISION MAKING – THE PROJECT LORE-LCA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, E. Stoykova)

The Low Resource Consumption Buildings and Construction by Use of Life-Cycle Assessment in Design and Decision Making (LoRe-LCA) project aims to coordinate activities regarding the application of life-cycle assessment (LCA) in the European construction sector, focusing on comparing and improving the functional units used for LCA for whole buildings, improving the possibilities to compare results for different alternatives during design stage, and for comparison of results for different buildings. The project focus...

RECONSTRUCTION IN ORDER TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION – SCHOOLS AND KINDERGARTENS IN SERBIA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, D. Stankovic)

The paper treats aspects of revitalization and reconstruction of existing facilities – schools and kindergartens, in the context of sustainable development. The analysis of architectural opportunities is based on researching fund-building in Serbia, at first in Nis. Having in mind that existing facilities spend a great amount of energy in the phase of exploitation, the paper research the possibilities of rehabilitation schools and kindergartens in order to improve energy efficiency.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES REGARDING ENERGETIC AND FUNCTIONAL ADVANTAGES OF HYDRAULIC TRANSMISSIONS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, P. Drumea, T.C. Popescu, D.D. Ion Guta)

This paper highlights several aspects regarding energetic and functional advantages of hydraulic transmissions based on adjustable volumetric machines, located in their primary and secondary sectors. To this end, numerical simulations were performed upon hypothetic hydraulic transmissions of primary or secondary adjustment, as well as numerical simulations and experimental research on MOOG radial piston pump type RKP-D. This servo pump, which can operate either in closed loop of flow or in closed loop of pressure,...

REVALUATION OF TURKEY’S ENERGY POLICY CONNECTED WITH ENERGY SOURCES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, S. Seker, T. Kaynas, D. Ayhan)

Energy demand and consumption is one of the key factors of a country’s level of development. They are not only related with economic development but also the dimension of security and environment should be taken into account. Hence, sustainability and resource diversity have overriding importance for the countries. Turkey has a considerably high level of renewable energy resources that can be a part of the total energy network in the country The optimum use of Turkey’s non-renewable and renewable resources sho...

RULE-BASED MAMDANI-TYPE FUZZY MODELLING OF THERMAL PERFORMANCE OF WALL TYPES MOST USED IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Tosun, K. Dincer, S. Baskaya)

In this study, simulation modelling of insulation layer (di), for residential buildings in 81 cities classified into four climatic regions in Turkey was. This stimulus model is constructed into Rule-Based Mamdani-Type Fuzzy Modelling (RBMTF) using input parameters (Uw, Te,Met, Te,TSE, Rwt, qTSE) and output parameter di described by RBMTF if-then rules. RBMTF has been designed using the MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox.

THE INCREASING OF THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF THE MOTOR VEHICLES BY USING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS FOR KINETIC ENERGY RECOVERING

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, C. Cristescu, P. Drumea, C. Dumitrescu)

The paper presents a hydraulic system used for the recovery kinetic energy from the road motor vehicle in the braking phases and using it, in the acceleration phases, in order to energy saving of the motor vehicles. All the system is conceived like a mechatronics system, for the medium and heavy motor vehicles. The hydraulic system allows the extrapolation to different sizes of vehicles and can be mounted on new motor vehicles, as well as old cars, in the framework of rehabilitation actions. The energy recovery hy...
