There is known about 57 species of Legionella bacteria which contains at least 79 serogroups. Some of them are considered as a potential human pathogens. Legionella occurs in natural and artificial water environment, especially in technical water supplies. The main cause of infection is an inhalation of aerosol infected by the bacteria.
