The geological and technological conditions of thick copper ore deposit extraction under the rock burst hazard are presented, based on an example of the new RG-9 room and pillar system. The results of rock mass behaviour surveys and observations during the trial exploitation are discussed as well as the system effect on deposit management.

The paper presents principles and conditions of leakproof yards construction located on the inside dumps of open pits. The dump soils used as the facility foundation were described.
