APPLING FUZZY C-MEANS CLUSTERING TO IDENTIFY ANOMALOUS SAMPLES IN KHOUNI AREA, CENTRAL IRAN

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, A. Pourjabbar, A. Hezarkhani)

Advanced mathematical theories like fuzzy set theory play an increasingly important role in exploration and assessment of mineral deposit. A method based on this theory, Fuzzy C-means Clustering, is presented to determine the background of the elements. In the following research, Fuzzy C-means Clustering (FCMC) method is applied to quantify the lithological background in Khouni Mountain, Central Iran. By applying this method, 254 stream sediment samples classified into 4 clusters according to the membership degree...

3D MODELING OF DYKES IN SUNGUN PORPHYRY DEPOSIT THROUGH APPLYING INDICATOR KRIGING

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, O. Asghari, A. Hezarkhani, V. Rafiee)

Two major series of crosscutting dikes (Dk1a and Dk1b) are common in Sungun porphyry deposit. Those are varying compositionally from quartz monzo-diorite to granodiorite. About thirty percent of the sungun stock is filled by Dk1a and Dk1b dikes. Presence of dikes will cause lots of errors in copper content estimation, so determination of dikes is very important. Ten percent of dikes volume could be identified through drawing strings and correlation between boreholes. For estimating and determining the other part o...

APPLYING DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS AND SGS TO SEPARATING ALTERATION ZONES WITHIN THE SUNGUN PORPHYRY COPPER DEPOSIT

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, O. Asghari, A. Hezarkhani, V. Rafiee)

In the detailed exploration and reserve estimation, with separating the alteration (as the controller of the grade) in ore reserve and estimating the reserve in each alteration, the estimation variance will decrease and the accuracy of the estimation will increase. This paper tries to quantify and separate the alterations using discriminant analysis, a multivariate statistical method, and distribute them through sequential gaussian simulation in the Sungun copper deposit. A simple linear discriminant function tran...

LOWERING THE ESTIMATION VARIANCE BY LITHOLOGY AND ALTERATION SEPARATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, O. Asghari, A. Hezarkhani, V. Rafie)

In the detailed exploration and reserve estimation, with separating the alteration (as the controller of the grade) in ore reserve and estimating the reserve in each alteration, the estimation variance will decrease and the accuracy of the estimation will increase. In the other hand without any additional drilling, it is also possible to decrease the estimation variance by lowering the sill of variograms. In this method, we have categorized the data into different lithologies and different alterations such as skar...

A QUANTIFIED METHOD FOR SEPARATING THE ALTERATION ZONES IN PORPHYRY COPPER SYSTEMS (BASED ON THE FLUID INCLUSION DATA)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, O. Asghari, A. Hezarkhani)

The Sungun porphyry copper deposit (PCD) is located in East Azarbaijan, in the NW of Iran. The Sungun porphyries occur as stocks and dikes ranging in composition from quartz monzodiorite through quartz monzonite. Four types of hypogene alteration are developed at Sungun, potassic, phyllic, propylitic and argillic. Based upon their phase content, four types of fluid inclusions are common at Sungun (1) vapor, mono-phase (2) vapor-rich, two-phase, (3) liquid-rich twophase, and (4) multi-phase. Halite is the principal...

APPLICATION MSWR REGRESSION IN DETERMINING Pb AND Zn ANOMALIES IN MOGHANJEGH, NW IRAN AND COMPARE ITS RESULTS ITH CLASSIC REGRESSION TECHNIQUES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, A. Habibnia, A. Hezarkhani)

Regression analysis is a well-established method to correct for grain size differences in suites of sediments. However, distortion caused by the presence of outliers and imprecision in both variables can hinder many common regression models from performing adequately. Median sum of weighted residuals (MSWR) regression is strongly outlier-resistant and accounts for imprecision in both variables for each member of a dataset. In a case study of Ni and Pb normalization for a suite of stream sediments in NW Iran, the a...

FLUID INCLUSION APPLICATION IN EPITHERMAL GOLD EXPLORATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, M. Malekmohammadi, A.. Hezarkhani)

Fluid inclusion application in epithermal gold exploration is based on the fluid inclusion characteristic and its relation to the mineralization. These characteristics include the type of fluid inclusions and different fluctuations in their micro thermometry measurement and chemical composition. In this regard, based on the micro thermometry measurements, the fluid inclusions in epithermal gold systems have the homogenization temperatures between 100-300 ВєC and the salinity of 5\% NaCl equiv. in average. Within t...

FUZZY CLUSTER ANALYSIS TO IDENTIFY ORE TYPES IN KHOUNI AREA, IRAN

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, A. Pourjabbar, A. Hezarkhani, S. A. Meshkani)

Multivariate statistics analysis is one of the base stages in geochemical data processing. In this branch of mathematics, “Hierarchical Clustering Analysis” applied to identify the relations between the variables such as elements and samples. Hence, different types of mineralization would define. However, any missing or errors in entrance the data make a wrong or not clear result. Sometimes misinformation or data errors appear because of analytical errors, missing some information, or problems in sam pling or ...

GEOSTATISTICAL INVESTIGATION OF ANISOTROPY IN SUPERGENE AND HYPOGENE ZONES AND ESTIMATION OF COPPER CONTENT IN SUNGUN PORPHYRY COPPER DEPOSIT

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, O. Asghari, A. Hezarkhani)

Sungun Porphyry Copper deposit is located 75 kilometers northwest of Ahar and 130 kilometers northwest of Tabriz. In order to model the deposit and estimate its reserve, 31068 input data gained from 152 boreholes were used. Cu grade was selected as the major regional variable on which the present research has focused. All of the available data were changed to 12.5-meter composites so that statistical equalization could be reached. Studies indicated that Cu input data had single - population characteristics. To car...

INTEGRATION AND ANALYSIS OF ASTER DATA, GEOPHYSICAL AND GEOLOGICAL DATA FOR EXPLORATION OF CU MINERALIZATION IN CHAHARGONBAD AREA, A GIS APPROACH

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, M. Ahadi, M. Farahani, A.HEZARKHANI)

The Chahargonbad area is located in southern part of the central Iranian volcano–sedimentary belt, in Kerman province. The intrusion of several intrusives bodies such as granodiorite, monzonite, diorite, granite and quartz diorite in the volcanic sedimentary sequence have given rise to an intense and vast alteration and copper mineralization in the southern part of this belt different image processing techniques such as color composites, image filtering, band ratioing and principal component analysis have been a...
